[O]ur Christmas Pageants were enjoyed by many people. Our missionary society was one of the highlights of my ministry in Woodstock, and I always found the members to be very helpful and to be interested in the church work.

[ Sermon on the Mount by Arndt ]

[ Program for unveiling the painting ] The Paul Wesley Arndt painting of the Sermon on the Mount that Edgar Shultis had been given permission to hang the year before was unveiled and dedicated. Music included "Take Time to Be Holy" (Stebbins) and "The Old Rugged Cross" (Bennard) by the Shultis family; ""Blessed Assurance" (Knapp), "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love" (Billhorn) by the choir; and "Calvary" by Miss F. Crosswell and Pastor Cook.

Average attendance for Sunday services was 41; Sunday School average attendance was 8.

The "square lights" were installed. These were fluorescent fixtures with four tubes mounted vertically inside some plastic diffusers that would be considered by a later generation aesthetically detestable but were likely de rigueur in the early postwar years, when synthetics were proudly displayed everywhere. The fixtures appeared "square" from the bottom but were "rectangular" when seen from the sides.

Newlywed Elsa Holumzer, 36, joined our congregation (her husband, Erwin, had been a member since childhood).

Pastor Cook put removable pipe legs on two of the supper tables.

At Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA, a woman was an influential teacher of sociology.
