[ Ikon ] [ Saint Gregory ]

During this time, there was a movement in seminaries and among some Lutheran theologians to recapture Lutheran links to both Roman Catholic and Orthodox traditions. Pastor Jetto introduced these icons into the church. To enlarge either picture, just click it.

The following is from the reports during the annual congregational meeting on December 9(1):

Unless otherwise indicated in a footnote, excerpts from church records or from The Scroll are cited in Anderson, Mark J., For All the Saints: Christ's Lutheran Church, Woodstock, New York, 1806-2006 [Bloomington, IN: AuthorHouse, 2006], Chapter 9. (Close)
President's Report. … I am particularly pleased to see a continued stabilization in our financial situation.… Most importantly, our pattern of giving as individuals and a congregation have improved significantly. We are building a spending plan based on the need, not what we think we can afford. Also, for the third straight year the number of families pledging has increased.…

Also worth mentioning is our continued outreach to the wider Church and community. Whether it is our missionary, our mission partner congregations, or the ELCA or the visitations to the rest homes, or volunteer work with Vision 2000, Family of Woodstock, or other social service agencies, Christ's Church members have had a significant impact on those around us.…

[ George H. W. Bush ]

George H. W. Bush (Republican) was President. The 101st Congress was in session. (The midterm elections that year would elect the 102nd Congress.) A dollar in that year would be worth $1.52 in 2006 for most consumable products.

Some 74.2% of Americans 17 years and older were high school graduates; this number was a slight gain from a decade earlier but still not as high as two decades earlier. During this year, about 2,587,000 Americans graduated from high school (a drop of about a sixth from a decade earlier), an estimated 1,049,657 from college (a tenth again as many as a decade earlier). The median school years completed by Americans overall was 12.7 years, an increase of about 3 months from a decade earlier.

Slightly more than 77% of all Americans lived in cities of 2,500 or more. (This was just slightly more than a 1% increase from a decade earlier.)
